The St. Catherine Libraries do not charge fines for overdue materials, however we do charge for books that are not returned. When an item becomes overdue, an overdue notice is automatically generated and sent to the borrower. If the item has not been returned after the third overdue notice (about four weeks), the borrower will be billed a $50 lost book fee.Books returned after the $50 fee has been assessed should not be placed in the book return. To be certain that all charges are cleared from your account, return "lost" items directly to a Circulation Desk staff. The $50 fee is refundable if the item is returned prior to final processing.
Unresolved lost book charges will result in the following:
- Library borrowing privileges will be suspended.
- Students cannot register for classes.
- Transcript requests will not be honored.
- A collection agency will be employed when necessary.
