The TRW Aesthetic Experience |
|
|
Contained in these pages you will discover a wealth of information about the public art on the campus of St. Catherine University. You will also learn about the people and ideas that created these works. We encourage you to visit these works of art, read about them and come to your own conclusions about them. The materials gathered here are intended to support assignments in the TRW course's second unit, entitled "Experiencing Art and the Aesthetic." The documents on these pages have been collected from the College Archives, personal statements, books, newspapers and other sources. Our goal is to provide students the opportunity to perform in-depth research for this unit whether they are on- or off-campus. While each one of you may not feel personally drawn to every piece of public art, perhaps during the course of this assignment you will take some extra time to consider why art is created and the role art serves in our culture. With St. Catherine University celebrating 100 years of educating women, we hope you will take a few minutes to appreciate not just the quality of your education here, but the care and thought that has gone into growing our beautiful campus.
