Friends of the College of St. Catherine Libraries:

Highlights of the Friends 3rd Annual Fundraising Gala, Thursday October 19, 2000

The theme of the evening was "Celebrating Multiculturalism," and kicked off a new fund established by the Friends honoring librarian and former CSC professor June Smith. Over $4,000 was raised for the new fund, with several contributions to other Friends endowments. June was a featured guest speaker, as was author Sandra Benitez. June spoke of the importance of having an international focus to one's life, while Sandra spoke of growing up in El Salvador and read from her forthcoming book, "The Weight of All Things."

Special thanks to Sr. Mary Virginia Mica, who paintings graced the Library's Lobby, and who donated to the Library the proceeds from the three paintings sold that evening.

Over fifty people gathered to enjoy conversation, food, fabulous door prizes and a celebration of libraries! Below are just a few photos from the evening. Thank you to all who made the evening a success.
