Consumer Federation of America

An advocacy and education organization with about 285 members, providing information on its Website on a variety of issues, such as finance, food, healthcare, privacy, safety and the environment, and utilities. Many publications offered in .pdf format.

Most of their reports are only available to subscribers (for $24/year), but you can look at the index of topics rated in past years, and there is some useful information given for free.

National Consumer Law Center

The NCLC, with offices in Boston and Washington, D.C., is an "advocate for low-income consumer justice and [a] leading expert on low-income consumer issues." Some examples of their services include info on replacing a "lemon" vehicle, borrowing and credit, homeownership and credit discrimination.
