Bag Lunch Discussion Series: #BlackLivesMatter

Bag Lunch Discussion Series: #BlackLivesMatter: Challenging Systemic Racism in Policing and Punishment

Friday, September 16, 2016
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
Center for Women, CdC 230

This bag lunch discussion will begin with a panel of Critical Studies of Race and Ethnicity faculty leaders: CRST Co-directors Nancy Heitzeg and Daniel Williams, Sociology; and Critical Hmong Studies faculty leader Pa Der Vang, Social Work.

In the wake of the killing of Philando Castile and other African Americans across the U.S., our goal is to discuss racial profiling and structural racism in the criminal justice system, focusing on what people at St. Kate's can do within and beyond the classroom to address the issues. All are welcome to join the conversation.

Throughout the academic year, the Abigail Quigley McCarthy Center for Women hosts the Women’s Studies (WOST) and Critical Studies of Race & Ethnicity (CRST) monthly bag lunch discussion series. The series brings together faculty, students, staff, and community members to discuss current research and creative endeavors.

Bring your lunch and your friends! Refreshments will be served.
