EBSCOhost : Direct export to RefWorks
Databases in EBSCOhost include: Academic Search Premier, ATLA, Business Source Premier, CINAHL, Health Source, MLA International Bibliography, Philosopher's Index, Social Work Abstracts, and more

- Conduct a search.
- Click on the Add folder icon to the right of any results you want to save.
- Click on the Folder has items link, above the Result List at the top of the screen.
- Select All or the specific records you want to export.
- Click on the Export link.
- Click the button in front of Direct Export to RefWorks. (Note: Check the Remove these items from folder after saving feature only if you want items to become unmarked after performing the export function.)
- Click the Save button.
- Login to RefWorks; your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
EBSCOHost: Manual Export to RefWorks
Option 1:
- Search, and use the Export button in Ebsco.
- Instead of selecting the button "Direct export to RefWorks," select: Generic bibliographic management software. Hit Save button.
- Select: File --> Save As...
- Save the item on your desktop, and make sure you change the file type to Text File (.txt)
- Log into your RefWorks account.
- Select References --> Import
- As Import filter, select Ebscohost.
- For Database, select the EBSCO database you used.
- Under Import data from the following file, use the Browse button to navigate to the saved text file.
- Hit Import
- Your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
Option 2: (this can be a bit quicker)
- Search, and use the Export button in Ebsco.
- Instead of selecting the button "Direct export to RefWorks," select: Generic bibliographic management software. Hit Save button.
- When the record appears, copy it, including the tags.
- Log into your RefWorks account.
- Select References --> Import
- As Import filter, select EBSCOHost.
- For Database, select the EBSCO database you used.
- Under Import data from the following text, paste your record.
- Hit Import
- Your references should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
