Find Course Reserves

Professors may put books, articles, and other items on reserve so all students can access them. You need a current St. Kate's ID to check out reserve materials.

finding reserves

Search for Reserves

Search the library catalog by course or by instructor to find course reserves. If you do not find what you're looking for, try looking in D2L to see if your professor posted a link there.

About Print & Media Reserves

Only one reserve item may be checked out to a student at any given time. Most reserve items are restricted to use within the library for 2-3 hours.

Some items allow for longer check out periods (1 or 7 days) and allow you to access them outside the library. For these types of reserves, the check out length will be stated in the item record and on the item.

A current St. Kate's ID is required to check out reserves.

About Electronic Reserves

Electronic Reserves

You may find ereserves searching in the library (above), but your professor may also have ereserves linked in D2L, so check there as well.

When searching for ereserves, they will be listed in alphabetical order along with all the other reserves, but there are some things you should know:

  • Ereserves will be labeled as ELECTRONIC COPY AVAILABLE.
  • Click on View or Print to access them.
  • On the next screen, type your name (first name, last name) and the 14-digit number from the back of your St. Kate's ID. (If you don't have your ID on you, you can find your library barcode number in Kateway under Campus Resources -> Library.)
  • Click on Submit. Be patient! It may take a minute for the article to appear.
  • Note that some long articles have been divided into smaller sections, e.g., Part I, Part II. Make certain that you have accessed the entire article.
  • To open the article for printing, or to save it, click on the download icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
