Happy National Poetry Month!

Categories: Events

It's National Poetry Month!

For National Poetry Month, we have some poets for you to read. Come into the St. Paul campus library to check out our display of books, or ask us for help finding some poems. We have a great collection!

The Academy of American Poets founded National Poetry Month in 1996 to highlight poetry’s important place in our culture and our lives. With this month they aim to:

  • highlight the extraordinary legacy and ongoing achievement of American poets,
  • encourage the reading of poems,
  • assist teachers in bringing poetry into their classrooms,
  • increase the attention paid to poetry by national and local media,
  • encourage increased publication and distribution of poetry books, and
  • encourage support for poets and poetry.

Find more about National Poetry Month, and find great poets to read, on the Academy's website.
