October is American Archives Month

October is American Archives Month and the St. Catherine University Archives and Special Collections are excited to share the history of St. Kate’s with you! Keep reading for what we have planned during October. And be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for archives updates all throughout the month!

Displays

Curious about what archives are all about in the first place? Or St. Kate's Archives in particular? Stop by the display in the St. Paul Library to find out. See how we collect, preserve, and make available St. Kate's history. This display will be up all month.

Starting on October 3 we will also have a display in the second floor CDC atrium. Leading up to Friends and Family Weekend, the first week's display will feature previous parents' weekends, as well as items from father/daughter dances and mother/daughter teas. These are events of the past but their stories are still readily available in the Archives.

October 5 is #AskAnArchivist Day! Ask us anything about what we do or St. Kate's history by tweeting @StKatesLibrary using #AskAnArchivist. We will do our best to respond to all your questions!

Or talk with one of us from the Archives and Special Collections in person. We will be tabling on the second floor of the CDC from 11-2 on the 5th.

President Roloff's Inauguration

One service of the Archives and Special Collections is telling the story of St. Kate's history at events big and small. One of the big ones is the inauguration of ReBecca Koenig Roloff as the 11th president. From October 6-13, be sure to visit the display cases in the second floor atrium of the CDC. They will show examples of how the elements of the University's mission—Catholic, Women, Liberal Arts—have persisted from the founding to the present day.

On inauguration day take time during the day's festivities to recognize the legacy and achievements of the first 10 presidents. This display will be in the CDC second floor atrium on October 10 and 11.

Tabling

If you missed us on the 5th, you get a second chance on October 20. Stop by our table from 11-2 and grab a button featuring a photo from the Archives! Students, we also want you to tell us your story: if you’re in a club, learn what materials you can give us in order to preserve your group's activities and history for future Katies.
