St. Catherine University Library can offer library guests the following services:
Alumnae/Alumni
A St. Catherine University library card, available at the circulation desk in the library.
- This card is valid for one year and allows the borrowing privileges of materials from the St. Catherine University library.
- These privileges do not include materials from other MnPALS Libraries or Interlibrary Loan.
- The loan period is four weeks for books, seven days for media.
- There is a limit of 25 items that can be checked out at a given time.
- Lost materials fee is $65 per book, $115 per media item.
- These privileges do not include access to online library materials, including ebooks and databases.
- Access to library computers is limited to our catalog-only kiosk computers. Computer use does not include printing, copying, scanning, or download capabilities.
Visiting Scholars
Visiting scholars are defined as researchers who are being hosted by St. Catherine University.
A St. Catherine University library card, available with a letter of affiliation from their home institution
- It can take up to two days to process cards.
- Visiting scholars may apply for a card by contacting the circulation supervisor (651.690.6655). Please be prepared to provide a letter of affiliation from your home institution.
- This card is valid for one semester and allows the borrowing privileges of materials from the St. Catherine University library.
- These privileges do not include materials from other MnPALS Libraries or Interlibrary Loan.
- The loan period is four weeks for books. DVDs do not circulate.
- There is a limit of 10 items that can be checked out at a given time.
- These privileges do not include access to online library materials, including ebooks and databases.
- Access to library computers is limited to our catalog-only kiosk computers. Computer use does not include printing, copying, scanning, or download capabilities.
The library reserves the right to revoke privileges.
Neighbors
A St. Catherine University library card, available at the circulation desk in the library.
- Neighbors are defined as those who are living in the following zip codes areas: 55105 and 55116. The annual fee is $15.
- A neighbor card must be applied for and paid for online through St. Kate's Marketplace. Unless qualified staff is available, your request for a neighbor card will be processed within two business days and the card mailed to you.
- This card is valid for one year and allows the borrowing privileges of materials from the St. Catherine University library.
- These privileges do not include materials from other MnPALS Libraries or Interlibrary Loan.
- The loan period is four weeks for books. DVDs do not circulate to neighbors.
- There is a limit of 10 items that can be checked out at a given time.
- Lost materials fee is $65 per book, $115 per media item.
- These privileges do not include access to online library materials, including ebooks and databases.
- Access to library computers is limited to our catalog-only kiosk computers. Computer use does not include printing, copying, scanning, or download capabilities.
Professor Emerita and the Sisters of St. Joseph
A St. Catherine University library card, available at the circulation desk in the library.
- The card is valid for 10 years and allows full borrowing privileges, including interlibrary loan and hold requests.
- Direct borrowing privileges are not available at other MnPALS libraries without a valid St. Catherine University ID.
- The loan period is 120 days for books, 21 days for media.
- Lost materials fee is $65 per book, $115 per media item.
