General Policies

The Tutoring and Learning Center consists of the Writing and Reading Center, and the Math and Science Center.  Both Centers provide academic support to students across the university through one-on-one peer-tutoring, in both face-to-face and online formats, for free.

Peer tutoring is:

  • Open to any and all St. Catherine students only.
  • Students may book up to 3 total hours of tutoring per week per center (i.e. 3 appointments per week in the Writing and Reading Center and 3 total hours across all subjects in the Math and Science Center)
  • Cancellation policy
  • Tutoring is offered in-person and remotely. All appointments are in Central Standard Time (CST)
  • Tutoring appointments must be booked ahead of time. However, if a tutor is available, you may book for any upcoming appointment slot.
  • Appointments are booked every hour or half-hour, and you may book up to 1 hour.
  • For questions or follow-ups, please email tutoring@stkate.edu, not individual tutors.

Nursing Mentors

We support students in their first year of the nursing program in the College for Women, typically juniors. Mentoring is a drop-in model where students can come with questions, individually or in groups. Mentors sometimes have prepared activities or materials, especially around midterms or other significant times.

We do not provide individual, appointment-based tutoring. Instead, experienced nursing students mentor and support new nursing students.
We also do not offer mentoring for College for Adults nursing students.
