Writing and Reading Center

Welcome to the Writing & Reading Center! We provide academic support to students across the university, partner with faculty in finding ways to meet students’ diverse learning needs, and cultivates the leadership potential of the peer tutors who work as writing tutors.

Students come to the Writing & Reading Center with a diversity of skills, knowledge, prior learning experiences, and present needs and goals. In the spirit of St. Kate’s values of academic excellence, community, and reflection, our purpose is to help students:

• Ask questions and access support.
• Use and develop critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Apply learning to new situations.
• Engage in relationships and connections that promote learning.
• Appreciate complexity, ambiguity, and non-closure.
• Grow in confidence as they prepare to lead and influence.
